These all natural oysters are carefully cultivated on our over 4500 acres of private beds in the pristine waters of the York River just a short run from the lower Chesapeake Bay. We constantly monitor the water quality and salinity and harvest only where the conditions yield a full meat quality with a mild salt flavor. We do not harvest any oysters that are greater than 4”. Taste test after taste test our York River selects are the pick of the party. If you are looking for cookie cutter size and inconsistent taste then our oysters are not for you.If your favorite is a naturally grown from the wild consistently plump, juicy, sweet tasting oyster then look no further. Storage & Inspection
Storage: Your shell oysters will arrive on frozen gel packs. Immediately place shell oysters in the coldest part of your refrigerator. If you are receiving larger quantities of shell oysters, oysters can be place in a cooler with ice. Never freeze shell oysters.
Inspection: Always discard of any oysters that are open and do not close.
Expiration: Shell oysters will arrive with a shell stock tag that reveals location of harvest (body of water), harvest date and expiration date.
Preparation & Consumption
Preparation & Consumption: Shell oysters are washed at our Crabville plant. There is no cleaning necessary. Shell Oysters can be consumed raw or roasted.
Thoroughly cooking foods of animal origin such as shellfish reduces the risk of food borne illness. Individuals with certain health conditions such as liver disease, chronic alcohol abuse, diabetes, cancer, stomach, blood or immune disorders may be at higher risk if these foods are consumed raw or undercooked.
