Frequently Asked Questions
Who & What is Crabville©? Crabville is the online division of J&W Seafood of Va, Inc. We are located in Deltaville, Virginia on the Chesapeake Bay. We are a HACCP (hazard analysis critical control process) and fda approved processing facility. This means we catch and process the product and are in control of the product through its processing. Our core products are fresh crab meat, pasteurized crab meat, soft shell crabs, shucked oysters, shell oyster and clams.
Are there products that you do not process and produce? Yes, there are some products that we carry as a matter of convenience. These products are not native to the Chesapeake Bay.
How will my order be packed? At Crabville© we pack orders in corrugated boxes with a 1.5 inch thick 2 piece styrofoam coolers. We then place frozen gel packs and/or dry ice within the cooler and place the product carefully in the cooler with an fda approved void fill to keep the product from shifting. Your package may not contain dry ice if the product can not tolerate dry ice such as live oysters.
Will I have to be home to sign & receive my order? No, all orders that leave our facility are shipped under shipper release - which means that if you are not home, the driver will not require a signature and will leave the package at your residence or business.
Will I receive a tracking number? Yes, you will receive a tracking number once your package is scanned by UPS or FedEx. You will automatically receive an email when your package is shipped, if there is an exception and when the package is delivered.
Do you send out emails with special offers? Yes, we do send out promotional, recipe and general seafood emails. Be sure to create an account with Crabville© so you can receive these offers.
Will my information be sold? No, Crabville® does not sell any of your information.
Can I receive my order on a Saturday? We never recommend shipping seafood for Saturday delivery. The first reason is that if the delivery does not occur there is nothing we can do to help you out, as FedEx is closed on Sundays. The second reason is that buying and having seafood delivered requires planning. Never have your seafood arrive the day you need it. Have it arrive the day before is what we recommend.
Why don't you ship live crabs? There is a certain mortality rate that is inherent in shipping live crabs. At Crabville® we have come to realize that this is not the best option for us as a company and our customers. We truly feel that we steam crabs better than anyone, give us a try and you can find out for yourself.
